HarperCollins Christian Publishing launches new imprint HarperChristian Resources

(Nashville, TN) April 27, 2021 — HarperCollins Christian Publishing today announced the launch of HarperChristian Resources, a new imprint that will realign the company’s curriculum and study-based publishing strategy. The initiative will bring together all curriculum products previously published under Thomas Nelson or Zondervan under the new HarperChristian Resources imprint encompassing all church curriculum and small-group study resources in order to streamline and strengthen HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s position in the Bible study market among ministries and churches.

Creating resources based off of book content published by Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, as well as other Christian trade book publishers, HarperChristian Resources will publish video Bible studies, Bible study guides, small group study guides, ministry programs, and church campaigns in both print and digital formats. HarperChristian Resources will also acquire original projects from leading Bible teachers.

John Raymond, vice president and publisher for HarperChristian Resources, commented, “We want to equip people to better understand the Scriptures, cultivate spiritual growth, and live an inspired faith with Bible study and video resources from today’s most trusted voices. Whether it is a video study based on a trade book or a study on a book of the Bible, we design our content to be used by individuals, small groups, or adult Sunday classes to enrich people who are seeking more biblical knowledge. We will partner with retailers and distributors, relying on our highly sought-after content, to create a consumer promise of exceptional, trustworthy resources that are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.”

HarperChristian Resources will officially launch this summer. Curriculum products previously published under Thomas Nelson or Zondervan will be rebranded with HarperChristian Resources at reprinting. The imprint will feature familiar Christian teachers, pastors, and leaders such as Max Lucado, Lysa TerKeurst, Andy Stanley, Jennie Allen, Peter Scazzero, and Ann Voskamp, among others.

In addition, HarperChristianResources will release an innovative approach to video Bible study access. With many new print study guides, purchasers will receive access to video streaming on any device, reducing the dependency on group leaders who generally purchase the video content and share it with study group members. This approach will begin with new titles including I Am Restored Video and Study Guide by Lecrae (July 2021), Nothing to Prove Video and Study Guide by Jennie Allen (July 2021), and Spiritual Warfare Is Real Video and Study Guide by Jim Cymbala (July 2021).

“Our curriculum titles are published with the most influential, life-changing content and done so with the highest quality,” said Don Jacobson, senior vice president and group publisher of Trade Books for HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “By aggregating all of our curriculum under one imprint within HCCP, we are better positioned to be highly competitive in retail spaces—both online and in brick and mortar stores.”

HarperChristianResources.com will serve as the marketing hub for the brand, with information about our Bible study teachers, titles, and topics. The site will also feature articles, tips, and encouragement for small group and Bible study leaders, powered by the ChurchSource blog and eCommerce platform.

Thomas Nelson Announces a New Publishing Initiative with Lysa TerKeurst

Nelson Books imprint will release a new book line in association with COMPEL

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) (October 1, 2020)—Thomas Nelson, alongside New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst, is launching a new publishing initiative that will mobilize the next generation of women Christian authors, through TerKeurst’s own COMPEL author training program. Recently, TerKeurst posted an initial announcement on her social platforms, as well as released a video with literary agent and manager, Meredith Brock, providing preliminary details about the publishing program.

TerKeurst and Brock will work together to identify and develop authors through their training program, then carefully select manuscripts to be presented to Thomas Nelson in a co-review process. Manuscripts that are further identified as commercially viable will be contracted and managed through Nelson Books, an imprint of Thomas Nelson. Books will be co-branded Nelson Books and COMPEL.

“This exclusive project will be the first of its kind for Nelson Books,” said Timothy Paulson, vice president and publisher of Nelson Books. “Lysa has been more than a bestselling author to our publishing family. She is a visionary leader who loves to teach others how to reach their goals and dreams of success. Lysa told us she wanted to help her community of women who have such incredible and inspiring messages that deserve to be read. The COMPEL book line is a concept that utilizes the strength of Lysa’s wonderful gift for writing and developing a resonating voice for her ever-growing readership, and the Thomas Nelson editorial, marketing, and distribution expertise to elevate new Christian authors, Bible teachers, and disciples of God’s Word.”

The first COMPEL training opportunity that has been designed for this new initiative—The Book Proposal Boot Camp—begins on October 18th and will be completed in January.  The COMPEL team will then begin their work alongside the Nelson Books team, with a goal to release its first book in the line in 2022.

For more information on COMPEL, go to the www.TheBookProposalBootcamp.com.

Lysa TerKeurst’s No. 1 New York Times Bestseller Uninvited surpasses one million copies sold

Message for women feeling the pains of rejection continues to impact readers across the country

Nashville, Tenn. (April 11, 2018) – In August 2016, Lysa TerKeurst broke through the unrealistically edited, social-media-driven noise to provide women a God-filtered truth: you are not the only one struggling with rejection. Today, Thomas Nelson announced TerKeurst’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling book Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely has sold more than one million copies. The companion video curriculum has sold another 270,000 units.

In the book, TerKeurst teaches that rejection affects us all more than we would like to admit. Too often, the hurts of our past are affecting our present more than we realize. That is why the message of Uninvited has struck a chord with so many readers. By encouraging them to “live loved,” the author has guided more than one million hurting people to God-honoring ways of dealing with their emotional pain.

The Uninvited trade book debuted on multiple bestsellers lists including a No. 1 spot on the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, holding its position on the New York Times list for six consecutive weeks. Also released in August 2016 with much success, the Uninvited study guide and companion DVD became a go-to resource for thousands of book clubs, small groups, and church ministries.

“The Thomas Nelson team is delighted to celebrate this achievement with Lysa,” said Brian Hampton, SVP and publisher of Nelson Books. “She is committed to writing books that offer solutions to problems that women are wrestling with in their daily lives. Passing one million copies sold is confirmation that Uninvited is speaking to a real need in her readers’ lives.”

The feeling of rejection can be crippling, and TerKeurst’s biblical wisdom and encouragement have connected with women of all ages and stages of life. Since Uninvited’s release, many of those women have reached out to connect with her on social media. TerKeurst now boasts over 1.7 million followers across Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

TerKeurst is set to release her next nonfiction book with Thomas Nelson later this year.
