FaithGateway to Recognize John 3:16 Day

March 16 will be celebrated by sharing the love of God through the most famous verse in the Bible

(Nashville, Tenn.) March 14, 2022— Text it. Post it. Tweet it. Say it to someone today. It’s #John316 day!

For more than a decade, March 16th has been a day for many Christians to share with people around the world the good news declared in the Bible in John 3:16.

The well-known verse reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)

The origin of the celebration is unknown, but some media outlets trace it as far back to 2011 when a K-LOVE radio station listener suggested that the day, March 16, should be “John 3:16 Day,” in honor of the biblical verse that affirms the hope we have because of Jesus.

This year, popular Christian websites FaithGateway.com and BibleGateway.com are partnering with the nation’s pastor and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado, and K-LOVE Radio, to encourage Christians to spread the John 3:16 message by simply posting the verse to social media, texting contacts, or sharing the verse in some creative way!

Max Lucado is also inviting people around the world to join a 3:16 Online Bible Study of the verse starting March 21, 2022. Registration is free and information can be found at faithgateway.com/316 or KLOVE.com.

Lucado’s 3:16 Study is based on his book, 3:16 The Numbers of Hope, which has sold more than one million copies worldwide and translated into 25 languages. The study has been entirely rewritten and re-filmed for 2022 with a more focused and deeply personal study of the most-loved verse in the Bible—John 3:16.

When 3:16 released in 2007, we had no idea it would be so well received… Numerous bookstores, church denominations, and congregations spent focused time examining this life-giving promise. Prisons. Small groups. Personal studies. Stories came from readers around the world who found faith in this “twenty-six-word parade of hope,” whose words have been framed, T-shirted, tattooed, monogrammed, and bannered,” writes Max Lucado in the book’s introduction.

Every time I recall these words, they are as fresh and as stunning as my first encounter with them. The mind-bending awareness of God’s limitless love, his incalculable sacrifice, and the priceless teaching at the core. How can we not review it again and again? I want this generation, and all who come after, to look closely at the key promise of God and choose the gift beyond all gifts,” says Lucado.

The Bible verse John 3:16 is the most-searched for Scripture in the Bible of the last decade, according to BibleGateway.com, the most visited Christian website in the world.  In an interview with BibleGateway, Lucado reflected on the importance of the verse in his life:

“John 3:16 has meant a lot to me in my life because it’s so concise. It’s one of those Scriptures that summarizes all the core doctrines of the Christian faith…. Taking a deeper look at John 3:16 allows us to fall in love with it and appreciate how brilliantly these 26-words articulate the big ideas of the Bible. I think that’s why it has meant so much to me all these years.”

“We’re grateful for this opportunity to come alongside Max and help share the truth of John 3:16 with millions throughout the U.S. and around the globe,” said K-LOVE CEO, Bill Reeves.  “Partnering with Max on this study enables us to give our audiences yet another way to go deeper into God’s Word and promises.”

Max Lucado’s 3:16 Online Bible Study, sponsored by K-LOVE, FaithGateway, and BibleGateway, is open for registration and begins March 21, 2022.

Lucado’s books are distributed in 80 countries and translated into 45 languages worldwide

(Nashville, TN) May 6, 2021—Bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado was awarded the 2021 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) Pinnacle Award today for the outstanding contribution of his writing, both to the publishing industry and to society at large.

His books are printed in 45 languages and distributed throughout 80 countries worldwide (including the United States). He published On the Anvil, his first trade book, in 1985. His forthcoming title, You Were Made for This Moment, will release in September 2021 from Thomas Nelson. “It is an honor for HarperCollins Christian Publishing to represent Max and his collection of life-changing, God-centered works for the past 31 years,” says Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO. “God’s grace, mercy, and unconditional love has been discovered by millions of people because of Max’s devotion and love for his Lord and Savior. I join my colleagues at HCCP and the publishing industry in offering our sincerest thanks for his many contributions and congratulations on this amazing recognition.”

As both an author with more than 35 years of published material and a pastor who has been in full-time ministry since 1977, Max decided to turn his years of content into an encouraging ministry during the COVID-19 crisis. In March 2020, Lucado started daily video “check-ins” to pastor people during the pandemic. These videos have been viewed more than 45 million times and were the catalyst for launching “The Max Lucado Encouraging Word Podcast” with more than 1.6 million downloads in the first ten months.

“It is such an honor for ECPA to present the Pinnacle Award to Max Lucado,” said ECPA president Stan Jantz. “I was a bookseller in 1985, and I clearly remember when our store received On the Anvil for the first timeThe accessibility of the writing, and the clear expression of the heart of someone who loved Jesus more than anything, were early indicators that this was a special author.”

Past recipients of the ECPA Pinnacle Award include in 2020 Stormie Omartian (Power of a Praying® series). Other recipients include Dr. Gary Chapman (The 5 Love Languages® series) and Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye (Left Behind® series).

Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and bestselling author with more than 145 million products in print that have been translated in 45 languages and distributed in 80 countries worldwide. Max entered the ministry in 1978. As a writer, Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor.

Max’s love for everyday people began during his childhood in the small town of Andrews, Texas. His father was an oilfield mechanic, his mother was a nurse. Max grew rebellious in his teenage years, and after one specific drunken night, he began to wonder if there was more to life than parties and chasing girls. He now believes that if Jesus hadn’t found him and changed his heart, alcoholism would have been in his future. After high school, Max attended Abilene Christian University and graduated with two degrees and a heart for following Jesus and helping others learn about him, too. He moved to Miami, Florida, and took a position as an associate pastor at a small church, where Max started writing about Jesus for the first time in the church’s monthly newsletter. Florida was also where Max met his wife, Denalyn. Together, they lived first in Miami and then spent several years in Rio de Janeiro, helping plant churches. The newsletters Max wrote to family and friends while in Rio, along with the newsletters he wrote at his church in Miami, eventually formed the manuscript of his first book, On the Anvil. He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest. Max currently serves as Teaching Minister of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. Max and Denalyn live nearby in Central Texas. They have three grown daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren. Visit his website at www.MaxLucado.com.

HarperCollins Christian Publishing launches new imprint HarperChristian Resources

(Nashville, TN) April 27, 2021 — HarperCollins Christian Publishing today announced the launch of HarperChristian Resources, a new imprint that will realign the company’s curriculum and study-based publishing strategy. The initiative will bring together all curriculum products previously published under Thomas Nelson or Zondervan under the new HarperChristian Resources imprint encompassing all church curriculum and small-group study resources in order to streamline and strengthen HarperCollins Christian Publishing’s position in the Bible study market among ministries and churches.

Creating resources based off of book content published by Thomas Nelson and Zondervan, as well as other Christian trade book publishers, HarperChristian Resources will publish video Bible studies, Bible study guides, small group study guides, ministry programs, and church campaigns in both print and digital formats. HarperChristian Resources will also acquire original projects from leading Bible teachers.

John Raymond, vice president and publisher for HarperChristian Resources, commented, “We want to equip people to better understand the Scriptures, cultivate spiritual growth, and live an inspired faith with Bible study and video resources from today’s most trusted voices. Whether it is a video study based on a trade book or a study on a book of the Bible, we design our content to be used by individuals, small groups, or adult Sunday classes to enrich people who are seeking more biblical knowledge. We will partner with retailers and distributors, relying on our highly sought-after content, to create a consumer promise of exceptional, trustworthy resources that are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.”

HarperChristian Resources will officially launch this summer. Curriculum products previously published under Thomas Nelson or Zondervan will be rebranded with HarperChristian Resources at reprinting. The imprint will feature familiar Christian teachers, pastors, and leaders such as Max Lucado, Lysa TerKeurst, Andy Stanley, Jennie Allen, Peter Scazzero, and Ann Voskamp, among others.

In addition, HarperChristianResources will release an innovative approach to video Bible study access. With many new print study guides, purchasers will receive access to video streaming on any device, reducing the dependency on group leaders who generally purchase the video content and share it with study group members. This approach will begin with new titles including I Am Restored Video and Study Guide by Lecrae (July 2021), Nothing to Prove Video and Study Guide by Jennie Allen (July 2021), and Spiritual Warfare Is Real Video and Study Guide by Jim Cymbala (July 2021).

“Our curriculum titles are published with the most influential, life-changing content and done so with the highest quality,” said Don Jacobson, senior vice president and group publisher of Trade Books for HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “By aggregating all of our curriculum under one imprint within HCCP, we are better positioned to be highly competitive in retail spaces—both online and in brick and mortar stores.”

HarperChristianResources.com will serve as the marketing hub for the brand, with information about our Bible study teachers, titles, and topics. The site will also feature articles, tips, and encouragement for small group and Bible study leaders, powered by the ChurchSource blog and eCommerce platform.

BESTSELLING AUTHOR MAX LUCADO REACHED MILLIONS WITH VIDEO CHECK-INS DURING 2020 PANDEMIC, NOW OFFERS THOSE MESSAGES VIA NEW PODCAST

The Max Lucado Encouraging Word Podcast Starts July 20

Nashville, TN — “America’s Pastor” and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado is launching a new podcast on July 20, 2020, called The Max Lucado Encouraging Word Podcast. The new podcastwill be distributed across all major platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcast, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Pandora, TuneIn, and Alexa.

The Max Lucado Encouraging Word Podcast features Max Lucado, and episodes will be derived from the exceedingly popular video “check-ins” Max began sharing online as the Coronavirus pandemic first hit the United States. Max’s videos – and now his podcast – point listeners to the comfort and truth of scripture and offer pastoral encouragement as well as poignant stories.

Since March 11, Lucado’s check-in videos have been viewed more than 22 million times. Thousands of viewers respond to the check-ins by submitting prayer requests online. Their requests are personally prayed over by Max, his wife Denalyn, and leaders of their church, Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, TX.

“In early March, when news about the pandemic was reaching fever pitch, God reminded me of the story of Joseph in the Old Testament,” recalls Max Lucado. “Under the direction of Joseph, Egypt had collected seven years’ worth of grain that could be distributed during a time of famine. God reminded me that I have 30 years’ worth of publishing, three decades of messages. I sensed a divine call to begin distributing this ‘grain’ during this challenging season.”

Each episode of The Max Lucado Encouraging Word Podcast is an inspiring message from Max Lucado, typically recorded from his home in San Antonio. Episodes will initially release several times a week, drawing from the storehouse of content generated over four months of recording the video check-ins. Future podcast episodes will debut original messages from Lucado’s forthcoming book, You Are Never Alone: Trust in the Miracle of God’s Presence and Power (September 2020). The format of the podcast will be flexible, allowing Max to share new messages in response to breaking news, international crises, and the leading of God’s Spirit.

“We quickly realized Max had created a new avenue for sharing inspiration and encouragement. Each new video tallied thousands upon thousands of views within hours of posting,” says Mark Glesne, Marketing Director at HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “Max is the voice of calm, comfort and perspective that people need and appreciate during this time of uncertainty.”

Lucado has also shared messages online via free online Bible studies hosted by FaithGateway.com. This year alone, these studies have featured several of Lucado’s bestselling books: Jesus, Anxious for Nothing, You’ll Get Through This and Facing Your Giants. More than 370,000 individuals participated in the online studies in the Spring 2020. In addition, Max was featured in multiple national media outlets during March and April 2020 offering pastoral guidance. Outlets included Fox & Friends, Newsmax TV, Trinity Broadcasting Network, CBN The 700 Club, Fox News @ Night, The Fish Radio, New Life Live, Moody Radio, Salem Radio Network, FoxNews.com, HLN TV, and more.

Adds Glesne: “Lives are being changed as Max speaks from his heart and from his home. As he has leaned into his God-given pastoral abilities, Max’s online ministry has grown dramatically during a very difficult season. His video check-ins and online Bible studies have substantially increased his reach, allowing Max to tell even more people about God’s love. As his long time publishing partner, the Thomas Nelson team is thrilled to come alongside him on this podcast launch.”

Max Lucado is the leading inspirational author in the United States with more than 140 million books in print in over 54 languages. His writings have been shaped into bestselling books, videos, devotionals, songs, greeting cards, booklets, Bible studies, commentaries, and theatrically-released movies. According to a LifeWay national survey, 1 in 6 Americans are familiar with Max Lucado and 1 in 7 Americans have read a Lucado book. During the 2020 Coronavirus, Lucado has had more than 22 million views of his daily online video “check-ins” and online church services. Lucado has been featured on countless national media outlets including The TODAY Show, Good Morning America, Huckabee, and Fox & Friends. BEST-SELLING AUTHOR MAX LUCADO DELIVERS TIMELY ANSWER TO THE EPIDEMIC OF LONELINESS

“You Are Stronger Than You Think Because God Is Nearer Than You Know”

Nashville, TN — According to a 2020 article in The New York Times[i], loneliness before the COVID pandemic was already troublesome, as damaging to one’s health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Now after weeks of sheltering at home and social distancing, loneliness is reaching epidemic proportions. Before the pandemic, 61% – 3 out of 5 – of all adults 18 years or older reported they were lonely. The young are  not immune to loneliness – 71% of young adults ages 18-22 years describe themselves as significantly lonely.

“America’s Pastor” and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado offers a way out of the new tsnumani of loneliness in his newest book, You Are Never Alone: Trust in the Miracle of God’s Presence and Power (September 2020, Nelson). Lucado addresses the unprecedented isolation in our culture with a pastor’s heart of compassion, diving into the miracles of Jesus found in John’s gospel for specific examples of how God’s loving character offers hope and respite for society’s loneliness.

“The hope of John, the hope of this book,” Lucado explains, “indeed the hope of God, is that we would believe, not in our power, not in humanity’s ability to help itself, not in tarot cards or good fortune, not in good looks or good luck. But that we would believe in Jesus. Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One. Jesus as the Son of God.”

Although You Are Never Alone was in the works long before COVID-19, it was in final edits when millions of people were hunkered down and uncertain of the future. This crisis has exacerbated an already rampant epidemic of isolation and depression. Max offers practical application and unchanging truth readers can hold onto in the midst of their loneliness. “The message of the miracles is the Miracle Worker himself. He wants you to know you are never alone. You are never without help, hope, or strength. You are stronger than you think because God is nearer than you might imagine.”

Specific miracles of Jesus addressed include:

• How the water to wine miracle reveals that Jesus can restore what life has taken.

• How the faith of the nobleman asking for his son’s healing underscores that Jesus hears our prayers even when we think he doesn’t.

• How the miracle of the lame man who took up his mat or the blind man who washed the mud from his eyes illuminates a Jesus who sees a new version of us and gives new vision to us.

• How the miracles of walking on water, feeding the thousands, and raising the dead offer evidance of a God that still calms the storms of life, still solves the problems of life, and still brings the dead to life.

Filled with his endearing humor and poetic storytelling, Lucado makes the truth of the gospel easy to grasp for readers wherever they are on their spiritual journey. A six-session study guide and video curriculum will also be available with this new title.

Bestselling The Jesus Bible to reach more readers in new editions— exclusive NIV Comfort Print® typeface, and NVI and ESV translations

Grand Rapids, Mich., June 21, 2018 — After a phenomenal first year, placing high both in Amazon and ECPA rankings, Zondervan is delighted to announce that The Jesus Bible will be available in new editions in late 2018 and early 2019.

In 2017, The Jesus Bible was Zondervan’s bestselling NIV study Bible and was one of the Evangelical Christian Publisher Association’s (ECPA) bestselling study Bibles, as well as #11 overall for ECPA Bibles. More than 140,000 copies of The Jesus Bible have entered circulation since its launch at Passion Conference in January 2017.

Over the following year, the ministry of The Jesus Bible will be extended in three ways. First, in October 2018, The Jesus Bible will be released with new covers and in Zondervan’s exclusive NIV Comfort Print® typeface, making it more readable than ever. It will also be available for the first time in indexed editions.

In February 2019, The Jesus Bible will be published by Editorial Vida, Zondervan’s Spanish division, in the Nueva Versión Internacional, reaching Spanish readers in the United States, Latin America, and Spain.

Finally, just in time for Easter, The Jesus Bible will be published by Zondervan in March 2019 in the English Standard Version (ESV). “In its first eighteen months of publication, The Jesus Bible, NIV Edition has been a massive success, reaching readers of all ages, including those in the increasingly influential 18 to 36-year-old market,” says Kevin Marks, managing director, Passion Publishing. “We are grateful to HarperCollins Christian Publishing for everything they are doing to lift this incredible resource—the launch in November of The Jesus Bible in their exclusive Zondervan NIV Comfort Print® is a significant investment in the future success of the NIV edition. And we believe that expanding the impact by offering The Jesus Bible in both Spanish language editions and the ESV is a powerful step towards making The Jesus Bible accessible to the fullness of the Church and the global Passion Movement.”

The Jesus Bible, which features essays from general editor Louie Giglio as well as Max Lucado, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, and Randy Alcorn, helps readers follow the thread of Jesus from cover to cover. The Jesus Bible features 66 book introductions and over 1,000 articles, which help readers discover a new depth to the Bible’s meaning as they see Jesus in every chapter of the story.
