New York Times Bestselling Author Karen Kingsbury’s New Holiday Novel The Christmas Ring to Release October 21, with Major Motion Picture Following in Theaters starting November 6

Nashville, Tenn. – Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury returns to bookshelves this fall with The Christmas Ring, a heartwarming new fiction novel releasing October 21 from Thomas Nelson. Timed for the holiday season, the book will also arrive alongside a theatrical film adaptation from Fathom Entertainment, debuting in theaters nationwide starting November 6.
Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring marks her first return to the Thomas Nelson fiction line in years and follows the success of her novel-turned-film Someone Like You (2024), which earned Rotten Tomatoes’ coveted Verified Hot award and is currently exceeding expectations on transactional video-on-demand and streaming via Great American Pure Flix.
Thomas Nelson Vice President and Publisher Amanda Bostic shares, “We’re thrilled to welcome Karen back with this beautiful new Christmas novel. Her storytelling has always resonated deeply with readers, and this story—timed alongside a major film adaptation—delivers all the charm, hope, and holiday magic her fans have come to cherish.”
Set between the French countryside during World War II and present-day Columbus, Georgia, The Christmas Ring tells the story of a Gold Star widow (played in the film by Jana Kramer) who discovers a connection to her family’s past through a missing heirloom ring—and a chance encounter with a charming antiques dealer (played in the film by Kristoffer Polaha) whose family may be holding the key. At its heart, the story is a sweeping holiday romance with themes of love, healing, and appreciation for the U.S. military.
Karen Kingsbury Productions will bring Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring to the big screen this November in partnership with Fathom Entertainment. The film reunites Kingsbury with director Tyler Russell and Nashville-based producer Natalie Ruffino Wilson, the creative team behind Someone Like You. The film’s cast is led by fan-favorites Jana Kramer and Kristoffer Polaha.
“I’ve always loved the Christmas classic movies—While You Were Sleeping, Miracle on 34th Street, Holiday, and You’ve Got Mail,” Kingsbury said. “It’s time to give people an unforgettable Christmas love story in theaters. This is one they’ll want to watch every year.”
Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment, echoes the excitement: “Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring will be a sentimental and long-lasting experience for theater-goers this holiday season. People love Karen’s books and movies, and they continue to grow in popularity. At Fathom, we hope to work with Karen Kingsbury Productions for many years to come.”
Kingsbury, who has more than 25 million copies of her books in print, launched her own production company in 2022 alongside her husband. Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring is the company’s second self-funded film project following the success of Someone Like You.
“As long as God will let us make movies together, that’s what we’ll do,” Kingsbury says. “We are already working on our next film beyond this one.”
