HarperCollins Christian Publishing to launch new UK-based imprint Harper Inspire

(London, England) March 26, 2018—HarperCollins Christian Publishing will launch a new UK-based Christian imprint, Harper Inspire, to attract indigenous UK authors of inspirational fiction and non-fiction this spring. The imprint’s mission is to deliver books with insight, impact and imagination as it seeks to create and develop titles with global and commercial appeal. It will also manage a bedrock of classic titles from the Marshall Pickering imprint which was previously housed within Zondervan and HarperUK.

Harper Inspire seeks to release up to five books a year for its first three years and though part of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Harper Inspire will be based in London, England with the HarperUK offices to better connect with UK authors.  Rose Sandy will lead as Harper Inspire’s affiliate publisher.

On June 28, 2018 Harper Inspire will release its first five books simultaneously with Wendy Alec’s Chronicles of Brothers series: The Fall of Lucifer, Messiah—The First Judgement, Son of Perdition, A Pale Horse and the newest to the series End of Days.  The series follows the story of a dark angel’s fall and his efforts to corrupt humanity and is a saga that will continue beyond the first five books.   First released as a self-published series, Alec has sold nearly three-quarters of a million copies globally of the first four books. Before writing the Chronicles of Brothers, Alec led careers in advertising and television production, including launching God TV in 1995.

Although we know the Christian market is filled with active, avid readers, I believe we have the potential to reach an even wider audience,” commented Sandy.   “Harper Inspire will be a place to find stimulating, motivating reads on contemporary topics for the curious mind. I am thrilled to launch with Wendy’s cinematic and epic Chronicles of Brothers saga, and can’t wait to see where the road takes us next.”

David Moberg, senior vice president and group publisher at HarperCollins Christian Publishing, said, “Harper Inspire is an exciting new venture for UK-based authors who have been looking for a publishing platform that will support their inspirational messages and stories. The team has great ideas and we look forward to working with authors who will leave life-changing impressions on readers. That’s our job as publishers and I look forward to Inspire’s launch.”

About Dr. Jerry Vines:

Dr. Jerry Vines has been a Baptist pastor and preacher for over 60 years, working to win people to Christ and to help those who know Christ grow in their Christian lives.

A native of Carrollton, Georgia, Pastor Vines was educated at Mercer University (BA), New Orleans Theological Seminary (BD), and Luther Rice Seminary (ThD). He pastored the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida for 24 years until retiring in 2006, and while there also served two terms as President of the Southern Baptist Convention, from 1988-1989.

Pastor Vines is a year-round Alabama football fan, and is working on his PhD at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for fun in his retirement. He and his wife, Janet, have four children and seven grandchildren.

Praise for The Vines Expository Bible:

“As pastors, it is our mission and calling to explain the beauty, the grace, and the challenge of the Bible, to help our congregations see Christ more clearly. Jerry Vines’ truly God-given talent for making the meaning of Scripture accessible is a precious gift for any Christian seeking God through His Word.”

Dr. Robert Jeffress; pastor of First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas; host of Pathway to Victory

“Creative, practical, applicable, but never anything less than true to the actual text of Scripture, has been the hallmark of this unparalleled pulpit virtuoso. . . . I love Dr. Vines and I’m so glad he’s opened up his vault of knowledge for all of us.”

Mike Huckabee; former Governor of Arkansas

“From the cradle to the grave, the Bible is God’s roadmap for life. To understand and apply its teachings, one needs a skilled guide. Read and apply this study Bible daily, and you will not go astray.

Steve Gaines, PhD; pastor, Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee; president of the Southern Baptist Convention

“Jerry Vines knows God’s word like few people I know and has spent a lifetime of study and preparation to proclaim its Truth. This is a classic and will bless students of the Bible for generations to come.”

Dr. Jack Graham; PowerPoint Ministries

“James 1:22 exhorts each of us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. Dr. Jerry Vines, with the heart of a pastor, enables us to practice James 1:22, with his own unique expository style. With this work, Pastor Vines is like another Phillip who guided the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 to an understanding of salvation.”

Sonny Perdue; Secretary of Agriculture; former Governor of Georgia

“Jerry Vines has the rare ability to possess the passion of a prophet and the erudition of a scholar, and it’s been a big influence on shaping my own approach to the pulpit. It’s good to see many of his insights and life-changing approaches to text captured in this one helpful resource.”

Dr. J.D. Greear; author and pastor of The Summit Church, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina

“Having known and loved Dr. Jerry Vines for decades, I am blessed to see the fruit of thousands and thousands of hours of personal devotion and Bible study… Only God knows how many believers in the coming years and decades will be built up and encouraged in the faith for having studied God’s Word with this amazing tool.”

Dr. O. S. Hawkins; former pastor of First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas; author of the Joshua Code series

“What a treasure Dr. Jerry Vines has given us! His years of pastoring, studying, and ministering to the church culminate in this volume. His explanations, word studies and applications provide excellent insight to the Scriptures.”

“My father’s image will remain etched in my mind and his voice will ring in my ears,” says Franklin Graham. “The lessons I have learned through my father’s eyes have anchored me and made me realize that what he taught me was what he also learned through his Father’s eyes from heaven. I believe this book will give readers a look into the heart of a father who has never disappointed his son. This is just a glimpse of what all believers learn from the love of a heavenly Father.”

“With Billy Graham now in Heaven, I can think of no better person to take us behind the scenes of his life and mission than his son, Franklin,” says Matt Baugher, senior vice president at HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “This is a book that Franklin has been working on for years and it had just been completed when his father passed away on February 21, 2018. It is an honor to work with Franklin and the entire Graham family to advance the Gospel, the message Billy has preached, and to make this important book available to the public as soon as possible.”

Franklin is the fourth of Billy and Ruth Bell Graham’s five children. An avid outdoorsman and pilot, he lives with his wife Jane Austin in North Carolina where they have raised four children and now have twelve grandchildren.

Donna Lee Toney, a colleague of Franklin Graham for thirty-seven years, has been involved in the ministries of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and in literary collaboration since 1982, most recently on the release of the New York Times best-seller Where I Am and the bestselling The Reason for My Hope: Salvation with Billy Graham.
